Theory: The Jeep owner was first, saw the ghetto 2/3-scale parking spot and, afraid of jumping the curb and voiding the warranty on her Alfa Romeo car, took the safe way out. Mercedes showed up, saw 1.75 parking spaces and made the only rational defensive choice. The BMW was being borrowed by someone who doesn't normally drive BMWs.

A solid theory given the amount of information provided. Some useful additional facts:

My garbage phone camera makes the spots look smaller than they are.

The Mercedes parks that way almost every day.

The BMW is mine.

Just to make the situation more absurd, there is a guy who works here with a 2015 E63 AMG and he parks like a normal human being.

Excellent parking job, then. I was not aware of your...uh...handicap :D (srsly, as common as they are, that’s the cleanest and most understated of all the 3-series).
